The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands, stretching for 2,300 kilometres over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres.
It is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and is the largest of its kind on earth, bigger than the Great Wall of China, and the only living thing that can be seen from outer space. The best way to see the reef is from the air, and a flight over the reef and famous Heart Island is a once in a life time experience.
